Quiksilver Appoints Steve Finney

Executive starts Wednesday and will take over for Paul McAdam, who was at the helm of retail in the Americas at the brand for roughly 14 months.

QUICKSILVER APPOINTS FINNEY: Quiksilver Inc.'s management shakeups continue. The Huntington Beach, Calif.-based outdoor sports apparel maker and retailer has named Steve Finney, who was previously senior vice president of global business development for retail at Disney, its new senior vice president and general manager of consumer direct for the Americas. Finney starts Wednesday and will take over for Paul McAdam, former chief executive officer of AllSaints North America and president of Ben Sherman North America, who was at the helm of retail in the Americas at Quiksilver for roughly 14 months. Andy Mooney, who joined Quiksilver as president and chief executive officer in January after 11 years at Disney Consumer Products and 20 years at Nike, has been busy reorganizing Quiksilver’s management. He increased the duties of Pierre Agnes, president of Quiksilver Europe, to include global head of apparel, and lastmonth appointed Tom Hartge and Kasey Mazzone to the positions of global head of footwear and global head of supply chain, respectively. Quiksilver has also been on the hunt for a chief marketing officer, a role Mooney is currently occupying on top of his other responsibilities. At the end of the fiscal year ended Oct. 31 last year, Quiksilver had 110 full price, outlet and in-storeshops in the Americas region, which covers North, South and Central America. For the first quarter ended Jan. 7, Mooney said during a conference call on March 7 discussing earnings that a reduction of the store fleet in the Americas by 17 stores decreased retail revenues, although the stores registered modest positive same-store sales growth. “We have continued to take the opportunity to step away from underperforming retail locations. The positive side of the retail store closures is that we saw the four-wall profitability of the Americas retail channel increase meaningfully,” he said.
