PURPLE RAIN: Umbrellas emerged as the latest hot accessory at Paris Fashion Week. Suzy Menkes opened up her huge black umbrella at John Galliano’s show on Wednesday night, as a shield against the venue’s leaky roof. Russell Brand, who is famous for being a womanizer in the U.K., was on best behavior as chaperone to Katy Perry, meanwhile. “I’m just really concentrating on not treading on that dress,” he said, side-stepping the train of Perry’s candy-pink Galliano gown.

On that note, budding French actress Fanny Valette, who joined the likes of Prince, Dita Von Teese and Leigh Lezark front row, said she’s about to get started on a film called “Les Hommes Charmants Ne Cours Pas Les Rues” (or “Charming Men Are Hard To Come By”). “And it’s so true,” she joked.
