POLLARD EXITS PROJECT: Andrew Pollard has exited as president of the Project trade shows, revealing his resignation to employees on Wednesday. “It’s really as simple as he wants to pursue an opportunity in the digital space and I’m in the process of moving forward with my strategies,” said Tom Florio, chief executive officer of Advanstar Fashion Group, which includes Project and the other various shows under the MAGIC umbrella. Project has grown into MAGIC’s marquee show and Florio will name a new president, with candidates under consideration now, he added.
Pollard, who declined to comment, joined Project as president in May 2010, prior to which he was cofounder of the Kiki de Montparnasse lingerie and lifestyle brand and a vice president of sales at Sixty USA and Diesel USA. He oversaw a revamp of Project, including the creation of the high-concept Project Wooster showcase, which was sidelined last month when creative advisor and namesake Nick Wooster decamped for J.C. Penney. Pollard’s exit comes on the heels of several other recent resignations from Project, including Nancy Berger, Project’s vice president of marketing and communications last week, who left to join the digital wholesale platform Visuality. “There has been some turnover on the Project staff,” said Florio, who joined Advanstar in February. “We are excited for our upcoming expansion plans that we are just signing off on. We are growing and evolving.”
