Philipp Plein Plots U.S. Expansion

The Swiss fashion label, which has recently opened a branch in North America, called PP US Inc., has also inaugurated its first showroom in New York.

The Swiss fashion label, which has recently opened a branch in North America, called PP US Inc., has also inaugurated its first showroom in New York.

The two-story, 2,150-square-foot space, located in the penthouse of a prestigious building overlooking Central Park, hosts Philipp Plein women’s and men’s collections, along with the label’s jewelry line.   
 
“I think this is the right moment to enter the U.S. market because the North American economy ispicking up,” said Plein, who established his namesake label in 1998.
 
According to Plein, to accelerate the expansion in North America, the company will make relevant investments in the retail business. “I’m currently trying to establish a global brand so stores are fundamental to communicate our image and lifestyle.”
 
While this winter the company will inaugurate a boutique in Miami’s Aventura Mall, Philipp Plein is still looking for a location in New York on Madison Avenue.
 
The fashion house, which in 2012 generated $100 million in wholesale revenues, features showrooms in Milan, Dusseldorf and Hong Kong. It also operates 23 flagship stores in high-end destinations across the world, including Monte Carlo, Saint-Tropez, Dubai, Baku, Milan and Moscow, and sells its collections in 500 multibrand boutiques located in 65 countries.
