HOMBRE!: Galeries Lafayette will celebrate the inauguration of its renovated men’s department in May with an advertising campaign featuring Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar, in a wink to the Cannes Film Festival, scheduled to take place the same month.
The photograph by longtime Galeries Lafayette collaborator Jean-Paul Goude shows Almodóvar standing in front of a director’s chair dressed in a tuxedo and fur-trimmed coat, clutching the script of his forthcoming film “Los amantes pasajeros” (“I’m So Excited” in English.)
The look was inspired by Serge Diaghilev, founder of the Ballets Russes, a hero to both Goude and Almodóvar, Galeries Lafayette stated. The campaign will break at the end of March in outdoor media, store catalogues and online, it added.
