Paul Stuart Marks 75th Anniversary With Sweepstakes

The men’s store will be giving away a “series of singularly spectacular grand prizes,” according to its Web site, over the next 10 months.

MILESTONE: It was 75 years ago that Ralph Ostrove and his cousin Norman created a men’s store named after Ralph’s son, Paul Stuart Ostrove. Since those humble beginnings, the store has become a stalwart of Ivy League sensibility — so much so that it was purchased at the end of last year by its long-time Japanese licensee Mitsui & Co. Ltd.

To commemorate its anniversary, the store has launched a 10-month-long sweepstakes where customers can sign up to win a “series of singularly spectacular grand prizes,” according to the microsite set up for the occasion, paulstuart75years.com. The first prize, a $25,000 Paul Stuart wardrobe, will be awarded this week, and customers can register to win prizes on a monthly basis. April’s prize is a cultural experience from Lincoln Center.

Other prizes will include a Baume & Mercier package in June where the winner will receive a limited edition men’s and women’s watch, an all-expenses-paid trip to Switzerland, a $1,000 American Express gift card and a tour of the Baume & Mercier factory. In September, the prize will be an excursion on the Royal Scotsman, a luxury train through the Scottish Highlands, where the retailer will also be shooting its fall catalog.

A company spokesman said over 15,000 people have already registered for the sweepstakes.
