QUICK HOOK: Last season, e-tailer Net-a-porter.com taught its customers a thing or two about earlier delivery exclusives when it offered a couple of Halston looks within 24 hours of the runway show. On Sept. 29, it’s offering another exclusive. The luxury site is teaming up with Alexander McQueen to offer their clients eight looks from the designer’s pre-spring 2009 collection — more than two months before they hit the store. The venture will be accompanied by an exclusive video, featuring a runway show of the looks that was held privately after McQueen’s men’s wear show in Milan, and behind-the-scenes footage.
“To have the opportunity to bring a McQueen show presentation straight to potential customers with an option to buy immediately is a first for us, and as such, a truly exciting venture,” McQueen said. The looks being offered include McQueen’s fitted skirt suit and several evening dresses. “With this project, we really are taking the global fashion consumer to the front row at the show — and not just any show, but a show held for her and combined with the instant gratification of being able to purchase her favorites right away and months before anyone else,” said Natalie Massenet, Net-a-porter.com’s chairman and founder.
