AUCTION FOR ISABELLA: After the launch of the “Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!” exhibition at Somerset House created a splash in London this week, the late stylist’s colorful legacy was also making waves in New York. There, online auction house Paddle 8 hosted a sale to coincide with the exhibition’s launch, to benefit the Isabella Blow Foundation.
Among the top lots in the auction, which ran from Nov. 13 through 19, were a collage by Michael Roberts, inspired by Isabella Blow, which André Balazs bought for 19,000 pounds, or around $30,600; a Nick Knight photograph of Liberty Ross that fetched 25,000 pounds, or around $40,000, and a Steven Meisel photograph, which was sold for 15,000 pounds, or $24,200. The lot that achieved the highest price was a stay at Greensleeves, a private villa in Barbados, which fetched 38,000 pounds, or $61,300.
The entire auction raised just over 100,000 pounds, or $161,300, which will go toward supporting the foundation’s work, which includes awarding scholarships for art and fashion students and supporting mental health charities, along with allowing the exhibition to travel.
