NATIONAL FLAVOR: Front-row fixtures Bianca Brandolini D’Adda and Alexia Niedzielski had a special reason for bringing their collaboration with Brazilian brand Osklen to Paris.
“We’re both half Brazilian,” Niedzielski explained at a presentation of the Osklen Praia A&B capsule collection at the Brazilian embassy on Monday.
“We wanted to export Brazilian beachwear,” she said, explaining that while the country’s beach culture resonates with mentalities worldwide, it products are not necessarily adapted to international palettes. “It’s a different fitting, style and taste. It’s important to have Brazil represented around the world in beachwear.”
The 150-item collection includes swimwear, beach-to-evening outfits and accessories like sunglasses and sandals in Sixties-inspired styles, and was designed by Niedzielski and Brandolini D’Adda in collaboration with Osklen’s in-house team led by creative director Oskar Metsavaht.
The collaboration, which will not be a one-off, according to Niedzielski, was first revealed with a runway show in Rio de Janeiro in April.
The line is intended to attract new retail accounts, particularly concept stores, for the high-end beachwear brand, which is in a phase of international expansion, she added.
Wholesale prices for the line range from 60 to 80 euros, or $82.60 and $110.13 at current exchange, for a bikini to 244 euros, or $335.89, for bags.
