OPERATIC AIRS: Christian Lacroix and the Paris Opera are collaborating with Petit Bateau on a capsule collection for women and children, WWD has learned. The collection, consisting of four references for women and two for children, is scheduled to go on sale in Petit Bateau stores and at the Opéra Garnier boutique in Paris on Dec. 6.
Lacroix has pursued a thriving career designing exhibitions, hotels and stage costumes, including for the Paris Opera, since the couture house that bears his name was shuttered and reduced to a licensing operation in 2009.
He’s currently at work on Balanchine’s “Le Palais de Cristal,” with music by Georges Bizet, premiering next May at the Opéra Bastille.
