OPEN COURT: The threat of foul weather slightly dampened, but did not entirely stamp out, the usual celebrity suite shenanigans in Arthur Ashe Stadium Monday on the opening night of the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. A pyrotechnic-enabled performance by Lenny Kravitz led things off (and nearly caused a fault or two over in Louis Armstrong Stadium where David Ferrer was beating up on 18-year-old Nick Kyrgios, the youngest player in the men’s draw).

In the Moët & Chandon suite, Chris Benz and Cuba Gooding Jr. cut an odd couple watching Serena Williams make short work of one-time French Open champ Francesca Schiavone on the main stage. Johnny Weir upped the surreal in beige leather Jeremy Scott for Adidas angels wings from a bar chair. Next door, Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis furthered their penchant for courtside PDA after the in-house camera caught them in the Emirates Air box.

The rain cut things short ahead of Roger Federer’s scheduled prime-time match, leaving at zero the number of Day One sightings of that most famous booster of his.
