CASTOFFS WITH CACHE: Vaunte.com, the online consignment shop for socialites launched in November, is heading West. New York-based founders Christian Leone and Leah Park made a swing through Los Angeles and San Francisco last week to meet and photograph the well-heeled and well-connected women who unload their unwanted Chanel, Prada and Dior via the site. In San Francisco, Nina Zinterhofer Stanford (sister-in-law of Aerin Lauder) threw a cocktail party at her Pacific Heights home to introduce the site to potential clients like Vanessa Getty, Alexis Traina, Allison Speer, Lauren Goodman, Sabrina Buell and Alice Larkin Cahan. In Los Angeles, Leone and Park photographed Jessica Joffe, Minnie Mortimer, Clare Vivier and Laurie Trott, among others, who will be featured on upcoming Vaunte sales.
“Listen, these women have a lot of money but they’ve also spent a lot of money on their clothes and everyone loves to get something back,” said Leone, whose company takes a 30 percent commission for photographing and shipping the orders. “It also forces you to clean out your closets of beautiful things you just don’t need any more.”
Over the last three months, Vaunte has worked with about 150 clients, mostly in New York, including Carolyne Roehm, Jill Kargman, Jennifer Creel, Ann Caruso, Lela Rose, Alexandra Lebenthal, Annelise Peterson and Ranjana Khan. The biggest hauls have come from the closets of Alex Kramer and Brett Heyman, the latter designer of the Edie Parker accessories line. The Vaunte team plans to hit up the designer-stuffed closets of Chicago, Miami, Houston, Dallas and Atlanta later this year.
