Dior Exhibit Arrives at South Coast Plaza

The center celebrated the arrival of the exhibition Friday evening with a cocktail reception at the Dior store benefiting the Orange County Museum of Art.

ON SHOW: South Coast Plaza celebrated the arrival of the “Dior Couture Patrick Demarchelier” exhibit Friday evening with a cocktail reception at the Dior store benefiting the Orange County Museum of Art. Between shopping and sipping glasses of Champagne, guests toured the exhibit of some 45 photographs that capture Dior Couture pieces from 1947 to the present and are separated into six themes: the Dior Line, the Dior Garden, the Dior Ateliers, the 18th Century, From Pink to Red and the Dior Ball. In a short film running at the exhibit covering Demarchelier’s approach to images of couture, the photographer summed it up by saying, “I like to show its modernity.” The exhibit also features two couture pieces encased in glass, a Bar ensemble from Christian Dior’s first couture show and an interpretation of that early signature look created by Raf Simons for his couture debut at Dior. “It’s to die for,” gushed event host Elizabeth Segerstrom about Simons’ red coatdress. As for the rest of the exhibit, she continued, “The quality of the photographs is incredible. They make you feel so elegant.” The exhibit made stops in Shanghai, Beijing and Moscow before landing at South Coast Plaza, where it will be housed in the shopping center’s Jewel Court through May 28.
