LONDON — The British Fashion Council has announced nominees for the British Fashion Awards, scheduled to take place Dec. 2 at the London Coliseum.
Phoebe Philo, creative director of Céline, Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen, and Christopher Kane are all competing for women's wear designer of the year, while Tom Ford, Burberry’s Christopher Bailey and Kim Jones, men's studio and style director at Louis Vuitton, are all contenders for the men's wear award.
Marc Jacobs, Miuccia Prada, and Raf Simons, couturier at Christian Dior, have been nominated for international designer of the year — a new category — while Alexander McQueen, Burberry, and Victoria Beckham are up for the top brand award.
Anya Hindmarch, Charlotte Olympia, and Nicholas Kirkwood were named candidates for accessory designer of the year.
There are also awards for emerging talent, red-carpet designer, model of the year, best creative campaign, and outstanding achievement.
More than 300 members of the fashion industry, including international retailers, voted for the short list. This is the first year that members of the public will be able to buy tickets to the awards ceremony, which until now has been an invitation-only event for members of the industry.
