NO SALE: While Victoria Beckham’s brand of chic, pared-back style might be in demand today, it seems there’s not as much appreciation for the former pop star’s previous glitzy fashion incarnations. The gold and diamond crownlike tiara that she wore when she married David Beckham in 1999 failed to meet its reserve price when it went up for auction at Bonhams in London on Thursday. The highest bid was reportedly 14,000 pounds, or about $22,900 at current exchange, but the piece had had an estimated sale price of between 18,000 and 25,000 pounds, or between $29,445 and $40,897.

The tiara wasn’t being sold by Beckham, but by its designer, Slim Barrett. Beckham had commissioned the design for her wedding day, but didn’t own the tiara, returning it to the jeweler after the couple had been married.

A spokeswoman for Bonhams said the piece had been returned to the vendor following the auction.
