The fruits of Undercover’s Jun Takahashi highly-anticipated collaboration with Nike will be unveiled in Tokyo on Wednesday, October 20th. The line is called Gyakusou, which means ‘running in reverse’ in Japanese and refers to the tendency of Takahashi’s own running group to run the opposite direction compared with other runners in Tokyo’s parks. The collection, which includes running shorts, pants, shirts and shoes, utilizes high performance fabrics that are lightweight, waterproof and breathable, making the items both functional and fashionable. The inaugural fall 2010 collection uses earth tones in place of the neon shades that normally grace running gear, but for safety reasons the clothing and shoes include reflectors and bright red or blue trim along seams. Also in the lineup are collaboration versions of Nike’s high-tech Lunarspider LT+ running shoes (14,175 yen, or about $173). Prices for clothing average 15,750 yen (about $192) for a pair of shorts and 22,050 yen (about $269) for a French terry hooded jacket. The collection will go on sale at select Nike and Undercover stores worldwide from October 23. Undercover and Nike will fete the collaboration with a party and a relay race, which will coincide with Japan Fashion Week.
