NEW EXPEDITION: Nigel Cabourn, the cult British men’s wear designer and vintage collector, is launching a women’s collection for fall-winter 2013, designed by Agnes Kemeny. Cabourn described the clothes as feminized takes on his men’s designs, which are based on historic garments, fabrics and details. Kemeny also served as the model for the collection’s look book, the images resembling worn, vintage photographs.

“I met the right girl and I thought now is the right time to do it,” Cabourn said. Comprising 32 designs, the collection features a Fair Isle sweater in pure cashmere, a women’s take on Cabourn’s iconic Cameraman jacket, a Harris Tweed coat with a detachable sheep collar, and a five-pocket baggy jean in rigid denim. The designs will be unveiled at the White trade show in Milan through Jan. 14.

Also at the fair, Cabourn is presenting a capsule collection made in collaboration with Nino Cerruti to honor the 60th anniversary of Edmund Hillary reaching the summit of Mount Everest. “The expedition clothes are made from a special Cerruti cashmere,” said Cabourn, whose designs include a “funked up” Montgomery duffle coat with deep pockets at the back.
