RESTORATION HARDWARE: Tod’s chairman and chief executive officer Diego Della Valle is gearing up for a big press event on Wednesday to reveals details of the three-year restoration works on the Colosseum in Rome, which he is backing with a sponsorship to the tune of 25 million euros, or $36.5 million at current exchange rates. Far from resting on his laurels, Della Valle is now passionately working on convincing other entrepreneurs to support Italian landmarks in need — Pompeii, in particular.

“It would only make sense for Neapolitan industrialists to take care of their own territory,” said Della Valle at the Tod’s presentation at Milan’s exquisite Villa Necchi. “It’s very simple, but necessary. We have to give back and look after our national treasures.”
