THE PASSION OF RED: “Red: Allure, Style, and Significance” is the topic of the 13th Annual New York Fashion Conference that will explore the numerous facets of this color — a favorite of Dior, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent and Lanvin. The conference will consider the history of red and the materials from which it’s derived, as well as its symbolism as a color and the prominent role it has played in all cultures. Leatrice Eiseman and Keith Recker, co-authors of “Pantone: The 20th Century in Color” are slated to speak, as well as Norma Kamali, Zandra Rhodes, Vicky Tiel, award-winning filmmaker Matt Tyranauer (“Valentino, The Last Emperor”), Hal Rubenstein, creative director of InStyle Magazine, and Lisa Immordino Vreeland, author of the book and director of the film, “Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel.” The conference takes place Dec. 1-3 at the City Univeristy of New York at 365 Fifth Avenue.
