CLEAR WINNERS: There’s a new student fashion award in the offing: the “from1000 Transparency Prize” which will select its first winner in late 2013. A collaboration between Belgian designer Bruno Pieters and American fashion journalist Kristopher Arden-Houser, the prize aims to further transparent practices in the entire fashion cycle, from design to production and retail distribution. It has been organized in tandem with Designers’ Nest, the talents platform for recent fashion graduates from nine Scandinavian design schools at the CPH Vision fashion fair in Copenhagen. Pieters and Arden-Houser will choose the winner from participants in the Designers’ Nest February and August shows. He or she will receive a mentorship by the founders, resulting in a product collaboration to be carried by select Scandinavian specialty stores as well as on www.honestby.com, Pieter’s transparent etail channel launched in January 2012.
