NEW FOUNDATION: Salvatore Ferragamo has established Fondazione Ferragamo, a foundation aiming to support new talents teaching them the values on which the late namesake founder based his life and work. His widow Wanda Miletti Ferragamo is the foundation’s chairwoman. Based in Florence, Fondazione Ferragamo will organize training courses, laboratories and cultural activities, and will grant awards and scholarships to students.

“Young people are the engine of any society, the force that ensures continuity and the future,” Wanda Ferragamo said. “However, they must have the chance to demonstrate their worth and their abilities. Adults, institutions and businesses are responsible for giving them these opportunities and providing them with know-how, creativity, technology and, above all, the desire to move forward, to overcome all obstacles, values exemplified by my husband’s life and his life’s work.”

In addition, the foundation will promote awareness of the brand’s heritage, promoting the company’s historic archive and organizing events in collaboration with the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum.
