BAND OF OUTSIDERS: A table of beers at the entrance of the grimy Garage Turenne show venue was a clue to the rock ‘n’ roll content of Maison Martin Margiela’s men’s show on Friday, with a musician-centric casting that included Death in Vegas’ Richard Fearless, Gwilym Gold and Paulo Goude, who is the son of Grace Jones and Jean-Paul Goude.
Swigging a beer backstage after the show, Tim Watkins, who is an artist and bass guitarist in an as yet unnamed supergroup shrugged, saying, “It was pretty easy. It just seems quite bizarre this old-fashion world. I still don’t feel I’ve got a handle on it. Nice clothes, though.”
A cool and composed Fearless said he’s busy writing a new Death in Vegas album and has just finished a photography-based artwork for Costume National. “We’re talking about having a show in Tokyo later this year, and they’ve commissioned me to do two pieces of work inspired by the brand’s universe,” said Fearless, adding that he’s also been producing a number of young bands, including Splash from Australia.
Goude, a former model, revealed he is also due to walk in the Agnès b. show on Sunday. “I’m going to perform as well. At the end you’re going to see me do a little beat-box number,” he grinned.
