BREAKING BERLIN: Mulberry has opened the doors to its first German store as part of its expansion plan to set up shop in major European cities. Set on the prestigious Kurfürstendamm, the store was designed by British architectural firm Universal Design Studio, which used lots of tactile wooden textures to hint at craftsmanship, and oak as a reference to the brand’s English countryside provenance. The store sits on one floor only, covering over 3,000 square feet, and features Bocci pendant lights and crystal globe light fixtures by Lee Broom.

To mark the occasion, the brand has created an exclusive-to-Berlin “Willow” tote in brown alligator skin and enlisted the talents of Berlin-based artist Frank Hülsbömer, who has created a bespoke installation in a dedicated in-store space that will be in residence until early summer. The kinetic piece makes use of shards of vintage glass and light and will be surrounded by Mulberry’s collections of men’s and women’s leather bags and accessories, as well as women’s shoes and ready-to-wear.
