Banana Republic Sets Third 'Mad Men' Collection

The latest collaboration with AMC will bow in select stores worldwide on March 1.

MOD MAD MEN: Banana Republic collaborated with AMC on its third “Mad Men” collection, bowing in select stores worldwide on March 1. The collections for men and women has evolved along with the popular series set in ad land and is now centered on Beatlemania. Megan Draper, played by Jessica Paré, informs the look of the latest collection.

“Our inspiration was Megan, Don’s wife,” Janie Bryant, the show’s costume designer and collaborator on the “Mad Men” collections, said. “Megan represents the young and modern. She really represents a changing of the times.”

Banana Republic creative director and executive vice president Simon Kneen said Draper is more adventurous than Don’s first wife, Betty. “Obviously, Megan’s influence in the series, and her character is fabulous,” he said. “She takes risks and is a little bit more in the know in terms of fashion.” Kneen said he’ll never tire of the collaboration because “Janie looks at what people were wearing at the time. It’s certainly not costume. It’s real clothes for today.”

Prices for the 50-piece collection range from $49.50 to $140 for women’s apparel and $44.50 to $375 for men’s wear. Accessories range in price from $29.50 to $128.
