MOCA HONORS WOMEN ARTISTS: Sharon Stone played host on Wednesday as The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles honored L.A. artists Lita Albuquerque, Helen Pashgian, Nancy Rubins and Betye Saar at the 8th MOCA Distinguished Women in the Arts luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire. Wearing a Thomas Wylde caftan, Stone told the crowd that she went to Washington this year to campaign for more funding for the arts, which drew applause from the crowd including Liz Goldwyn, Piero Golia, Alexandra Grant, Rosetta Getty, Rosson Crow, Rose McGowan, Poppy Delevigne and Liberty Ross. “Thanks, that’s more of a response than I got in Washington,” said Stone dryly.
The event was capped off by a multimedia fashion show by boutique Just One Eye, featuring film installations and dancers instead of models who leapt and twirled barefoot down the runway. The performance drew a standing ovation, prompting Lady Victoria Hervey to say, “Can you imagine if every runway show was like that? Now that would be interesting.”
