GETTING TOGETHER: Milan and Florence have never been so close. During a meeting on Monday at Milan’s Palazzo Marino townhall, Mayor Giuliano Pisapia and Florence Mayor Matteo Renzi revealed the creation of a strategic axis between the two cities.
The collaboration will interest different areas, including the fashion industry and the organization of the Expo, which Milan will host in 2015.
“Florence mayors are usually obsessed with the idea that Milanese people can steal something from our city,” Renzi said. “But we need to go over parochialism and we have to focus on fashion, which needs maximum political support.”
