INSPIRATIONAL AUDREY: Designers are digging deep to support philanthropic Parisian concept store Merci’s latest installation, a tribute to Audrey Hepburn that opens Sept. 26, to coincide with fashion week. Belgian designer Edouard Vermeulen, used to dressing northern Europe’s royalty, has donated around 40 pieces for the event, Merci co-founder Marie-France Cohen said. “I suggested a ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ theme to him because I wanted to bring some humor into the installation, so it wasn’t too couture,” Cohen commented. Other donors for the event, which runs until Oct. 13 in the store’s atrium, include Courrèges, Roger Vivier and Tiffany. Funds raised from the sale of the items on show will go toward building schools in southwestern Madagascar, Cohen said. Merci, founded by Cohen and her husband Bernard in 2009 after selling the Bonpoint children’s brand they created, donates all profits to help the women and children of Madagascar.
