MELISSA’S MODERN NEW YORK HOME: Brazilian shoe giant Melissa, known for its plastic jelly shoes and collaborations with designers such as Gareth Pugh and Jason Wu, is opening its first U.S. store Feb. 8. Located at 102 Greene Street in SoHo, the store will follow the same hypermodern gallery format as its Brazilian flagship in São Paolo, where Melissa regularly hosts art exhibitions. The New York store will open with an installation by Brazilian artist Eli Sudbrack, who recently designed Lady Gaga’s Workshop at Barneys New York, and his AVAF (Assume Vivid Astro Focus) collective, which Sudbrack runs with Christophe Hamaide-Pierson.
