MELBOSTAD BAGS BLACK GOLD: Diesel has confirmed that Norwegian designer Andreas Melbostad has been tapped as the creative director for its Diesel Black Gold contemporary women’s wear collection, taking over duties previously held by Sophia Kokosalaki, who exited the company after its spring show in New York last month following more than three years at the helm of the collection. Melbostad’s efforts will be on display when the company unveils its pre-fall collection in December and its fall ready-to-wear effort next February. Melbostad began his design career with Nicole Farhi in London and, before his most recent assignment as creative director of Susan Dell’s Phi, designed at Guy Laroche, Yves Saint Laurent and Calvin Klein. News of the appointment first surfaced in Milan in August, but Diesel had declined comment.
