BOOSTING MILAN: On Monday, Milan mayor Giuliano Pisapia met a few executives of the city’s creative industry at Palazzo Marino to discuss the development of the “Milan Creative City” project.
The delegation included key figures of the Italian Chamber of Fashion, such as president Mario Boselli, vice president Patrizio Bertelli, newly appointed chief executive officer Jane Reeve and Angela Missoni. Claudio Luti, president of Cosmit, the organizing body of international furniture trade show Salone del Mobile, and Andrea Illy, president of Italian luxury goods association Fondazione Altagamma, also attended the meeting.
Aimed at reinforcing the image of Milan as an international creative hub, the “Milan Creative City” project includes the creation of a tight schedule of cultural and creative events, which will also animate the city during Milan World Expo in 2015. The schedule’s first draft will be shown at the end on January, when the new logo expected to represent the city of Milan around the world will be unveiled.
On Monday, Pisapia also had a private meeting with Giorgio Armani, who last month announced his decision to join Italy’s fashion association. The details of the conversation between Pisapia and Armani were not released.
