Matthew Williamson Unveils Ballantyne Range

The range includes 40 men’s and women’s cashmere styles.

DIAMOND LIFE: Matthew Williamson unveiled his capsule collection with Ballantyne at a presentation Wednesday at Milan specialty store Corso Como 10. “It’s a fifty-fifty split between the DNA of my brand and Ballantyne’s heritage,” said Williamson, referring to the multicolored knitwear he designed for the Italy-based and British-rooted luxury brand.

The range includes 40 men’s and women’s cashmere styles, which include classic sweaters, cardigans, turtlenecks and ponchos showing colorful Argyle and Fair Isle-inspired patterns.

“This is really an exclusive, niche project so we will sell the collection only to 100 stores in the world,” said Matteo Montezemolo, chief executive officer of Charme, the Italian equity fund that controls Ballantyne. The capsule will retail from between 600 euros, or $802 at current exchange rate, to 1,000 euros, or $1,338.
