WINDOW DRESSING: A mix of fashion kids, Man Repeller devotees and curious passersby (“Is that a celebrity?” was overheard more than once) bared the chilly air on Thursday afternoon to watch blogger Leandra Medine style the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue for Christian Louboutin’s 20th anniversary using shoes and bags from the designer’s capsule collection. As the curtain lifted, Medine waved to the crowd and began posing for photos in a pair of impossibly tall thigh-high Louboutin boots before requesting a friend’s help to pull them off (“Those are a man repeller because they don’t come off,” she later said). A series of outfit changes followed as Medine continued to style outfits — in between lots of laughter and goofing around — with the designer’s shoes and accessories.
But weren’t Louboutins — known for their sexy designs, dangerous heights and red soles — traditionally sort of... man-getting? “Well, except for the ones with fur all over them, or the too-high ones that make you look like a stork when you’re walking. Every ‘man getter’ has the potential to be a ‘man repeller,’” Medine said.
