This year’s gala, which celebrated the “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity” spring exhibit, had some 725 guests, and in total raised $9 million — the event’s best results ever. By contrast, last year’s shindig, which kicked off “The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” exhibit, raked in $5.4 million for the Costume Institute.
