ITALIAN-STYLE DYNASTY: Starting today, bookworms with a penchant for a glamorous, high-wattage lifestyle and sexy scoop can immerse themselves in “House of Versace, The Untold Story of Genius, Murder and Survival” by Deborah Ball.

Published by Crown Publishing Group, the 346-page hardback features a black-and-white portrait of Gianni Versace and his sister Donatella on the cover. It tells of the siblings’ ups and downs, of Gianni Versace’s murder in 1997, of Donatella’s battle with drugs and her rehabilitation, of the rivalry with brother Santo, and of the mystery linked to the fact that the famed designer left the majority of his fashion empire to Donatella’s daughter, Allegra. To write the book, Ball who was a longtime Milan correspondent at Dow Jones Newswires and for The Wall Street Journal, conducted hundreds of interviews, including models such as Naomi Campbell, fashion insiders, business rivals and even Gianni Versace’s lovers.
