UNDER AND OVER: French lingerie company Maison Lejaby is set to launch its first ready-to-wear collection, which is inspired by the lingerie universe. The line called Couture Collection, which was created by rising French designer Léa Peckre, will be unveiled on March 3 at an event during Paris Fashion Week. It includes about 15 pieces.
Peckre, a former winner of Grand Prize at the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography, is known for her ethereal and sexy stretch tulle dresses and skirts with bonded 3-D godets giving a nod to lingerie.
“The high-end designer ready-to-wear line is in line with our strategy to develop our luxury business,” Alain Prost, chief executive officer of Maison Lejaby, told WWD.
Prost said the luxury segment could generate as much as 30 percent of the company’s sales within the next five years. Its upscale lingerie label Maison Lejaby Couture, which was launched in 2012, currently rings up 5 percent of the firm’s overall business.
The rtw fashion collection will be sold in high-end multibrand and department stores.
Maison Lejaby Couture is currently available in department stores, including Printemps and Galeries Lafayette in Paris plus London’s Harrods. When it enters Barneys this month, it marks the label’s first Stateside door.
