The man may make the clothes, but the clothes make the show in the case of AMC’s “Mad Men.” No one knows that better than Michael Kors, whose fall collection was influenced by the hit series, and so on Tuesday night, the designer hosted a screening of the season two premiere at the Bryant Park Hotel. “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm, who plays the debonair but reticent Don Draper on the series, stayed in character in a sharp Giorgio Armani suit, while sipping vodka on the rocks. “I’m a little less formal than this usually, but I do like nice clothes. Life’s too short,” said the Golden Globe winner. Kors’ affection for the show’s style stems from his nostalgia for his childhood. He remembered his mom wearing skinny pants and sweater sets everywhere she went. “My mother was definitely a little January Jones [who plays Betty Draper] in her sportier moments,” he said.�
