No, it’s not Christmas time, but Macy’s Herald Square is extending its shopping hours anyway to make it easier for shoppers while the flagship undergoes its four-year, $400 million renovation. Starting today, the store opens at 9 a.m., instead of 10 a.m, Monday through Friday. The Saturday and Sunday schedule remains the same, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., respectively. The big, top-to-bottom renovation will phase in new shops, selling floors, eateries and technologies. As part of the overhaul, Macy’s says it’s building the world’s largest shoe floor and will open it this August.
“Our customers come first and our goal is to ensure they have a signature Macy’s Herald Square experience that is convenient for them, even during our extensive renovation project,” said Patti M. Lee, district vice president and general manager for Macy’s Herald Square. “By extending the hours of operation by an hour we will provide them with more time and flexibility to shop on their terms.” Macy’s has also hired “ambassadors” to stand at key store entrances and departments and has added maps to help customers navigate new store configurations and find merchandise.
