Luna Rossa Defeats Artemis Racing

Prada’s sailing team will again compete against its Swedish rival on day two of the Louis Vuitton Cup semi-finals.

RACING SPIRIT: Prada’s Luna Rossa sailing team defeated Artemis Racing in the first race of the Louis Vuitton Cup semi-finals Aug. 6 in San Francisco, and the Italian team will again face its Swedish rival today.

“Finally a good race, although we did have our share of cold shivers in the prestart,” said Luna Rossa skipper Max Sirena, referring to a scare with the wing sail of the catamaran just before the start of the race.

“What is satisfying is to see that the technical effort and the crew work have improved considerably. But we have not achieved our goal yet; our aim is to keep working on our development in order to be increasingly competitive,” he added.

The semi-finals run through Aug. 14. The Louis Vuitton Cup final, from Aug. 17 to 30, will set the scene for the America’s Cup in September.
