DIRAN CLOSURE: Designer Loris Diran will close his boutique on the Bowery on Sept. 30 after four years in business.
Diran, whose women’s and men’s collection have found fans in Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyonce Knowles, Ricky Martin and Andrew McCartney, said the closure will allow him to “better focus his company’s efforts on broader wholesale distribution.”
He said the main intent of the store was to “present my vision...in such a unique manner that it would open doors for us with many of our target luxury retailers and it did just that.”
Diran, whose design background includes Versace, Claude Montana, OMO Norma Kamali and Chanel, launched his women’s collection in 2003 and men’s wear four years later. Women’s currently represents 58 percent of sales while men’s is 42 percent, Diran said. The bulk of the men’s business was in custom-made product, which “we will continue to cultivate privately,” he said. The store had accounted for about 40 percent of the brand’s overall business. It is also carried in Tango, Churchills, Massimo Bizzocchi and Pamela Gonzalez.
