HONORABLE MENTION: Bernard Arnault, Emma Hill, Harold Koda and Nick Knight are among the fashion and creative figures to be honored during the annual graduation ceremonies at University of the Arts London (UAL), which includes Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion and Chelsea College of Arts.
UAL said Tuesday that LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton and Central Saint Martins have had a “very productive relationship for many years,” collaborating on numerous courses and programs.
The new Central Saint Martins building at King’s Cross is home to the LVMH Lecture Theatre and the French conglomerate awards scholarships annually to three of the school’s BA (Hons) Fashion students.
Arnault said he was grateful to be awarded an honorary doctorate by the university, whose “students never fail to produce exciting, groundbreaking designs. We are delighted that so many have brought their talent and passion to LVMH.”
The 13 honorees will be recognized for contributions to their respective fields during eight graduation ceremonies that will take place from July 14 to 17 at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank.
Each one will address graduating UAL students and share their experiences and advice for a successful career in the creative industries.
Other honorees this year include the former Mulberry creative director Hill; photographer Knight; Koda, who is curator in charge of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art; writer and fashion commentator Felicity Green, and Justine Picardie, editor of British Harper’s Bazaar.
