HIS TURN: Men, the British Fashion Council’s new men’s showcase, has received a royal seal of approval. On June 14, the eve of the three-day event present summer 2013 collections, the Prince of Wales will host a reception at St. James’ Palace to celebrate the launch.
It is a great honor to have the support of HRH the Prince of Wales to launch London Collections: Men and champion British men’s wear and culture,” stated Harold Tillman, chair of the British Fashion Council.
The BFC said the reception would be an opportunity for U.K. and international media, retailers and “style influencers” to network with London’s men’s wear designers and businesses.
Alongside promoting Britain’s heritage men’s labels, emerging designers and established names, the men’s collections will also champion British craft, the BFC said, including the Prince of Wales’ Campaign for Wool. Charles launched the campaign in 2008 to boost the global wool industry.
The BFC also said that the hub for the men’s collections would be The Hospital Club, a private club and events space for the creative industries in London’s Covent Garden.
