A VIVIER RENDEZ-VOUS: Acolytes of Roger Vivier gathered at the Kensington residence of London’s French ambassador Tuesday night to fete the London launch of Roger Vivier’s limited edition Rendez-Vous collection. At a cocktail hosted by Roger Vivier’s creative director Bruno Frisoni and Isabelle Emié, the French ambassador Bernard Emié’s wife, guests had a first peek at the collection — which Frisoni said was based on the idea of “illusion” — with the spotlight on mirrored and transparent materials such as hand-painted PVC and flower print lurex.

The label’s vertiginous sandals and sleek court shoes, all with the house’s curved Virgule heel, were dotted around the residence’s grand hall, and in between sips of winter berry Bellinis guests tried on lasts of the limited edition pieces. Among the crowd were Yasmin Mills, Saffron Aldridge, Bella Pollen, Maryam d’Abo and Jeanne Marine, who said she had her eye on the collection’s “super high” heels. “I don’t have a choice, though, as I’m small.” said Marine of her proclivity for heels. “If I was as tall as Ines [de la Fressange, another Vivier muse] I would wear flats, as I think they’re so elegant,” she mused. After its London debut, the collection will travel to cities including Hong Kong, New York, Tokyo and Miami. And though Frisoni often travels alongside the collection, the designer admitted that finishing the house’s upcoming fall line would keep him in Paris.
