MET LIFE: East met West on Wednesday night when Lizzie Tisch came to Beverly Hills to host with Susan Casden the fifth annual Friends of the Costume Institute dinner honoring curator Andrew Bolton. “It’s one of my favorite events of the year, apart from the Party of the Year,” said Bolton, who has counted over 240,000 visitors to the “Punk: Chaos to Couture” show thus far. “We knew the show would generate some controversy, though I wish there wasn’t quite so much. But punk provokes a lot of emotions. I myself think it was quite a romantic movement.” Among the Met gala-goers at the Beverly Hills Hotel who relished the chance to chat with Bolton one-on-one were Monique Lhuillier, Crystal Lourd, Jacqui Getty, Angelique Soave, Cameron Silver and Laura and Kate Mulleavy. “We took like 20 pictures beside each one of our dresses in the exhibit,” said Laura Mulleavy. Also in the mix were Jenni Kayne, Perrey Reeves, Rochelle Gores Fredston and James Galanos. “I always say two of the best acquisitions I ever made were the Brooklyn Art Museum and Andrew Bolton,” said Harold Koda, who will curate next spring’s exhibit, the subject of which will be American fashion of a particular era.
