MUSICAL INTERLUDE: Sixties rock 'n' roll legend Ronnie Spector showed the world she’s still got it at the Olympia Le-Tan show on Monday night. Capping off a run of Sixties hits mimed by models in designs from Le-Tan’s spring collection, Spector gave a live performance of the Ronettes classic, “Be My Baby.” The show was held at Paris’ Théâtre de la Madeleine.
The models looked like they’d stepped straight out of a Sixties girl band themselves, mimicking the era's kitsch dance routines. Le-Tan’s creations included Fifties-style plaid Capri pants, a high-waist baby pink pencil skirt in a fruit and vegetable print, and buttoned apron-like skirts in an updated candy stripe — all accessorized with headbands, short white socks and J.M. Weston shoes. Details included black corset-inspired inserts at the waists of dresses and scalloped edges.
"I took inspiration from the music I love, Sixties girl bands for the clothes and jazz for the bags,” said Le-Tan, whose new bag collection included a turquoise alligator number designed to hold 7-inch records.
