LATEST LEASE: Brookfield Office Properties on Tuesday said that Calypso St. Barth will open a 1,400-square-foot store at its Brookfield Place (formerly World Financial Center) in downtown Manhattan. Brookfield is undergoing a $250 million renovation focused on filling its 200,000 square feet of retail space with luxury brands.
Calypso St. Barth joins retailers including Hermès, Burberry and Michael Kors, which have signed leases at Brookfield Place.
Calypso and the other retailers will open their doors in the fall of 2014, when the renovation of Brookfield Place is completed.
“This is a very strong positive vote for us,” said Ed Hogan, national director of retail leasing for Brookfield. “Calypso doesn’t just put stores up everywhere. They’re very strategic about where they go.” Calypso operates 37 stores in 12 states and St. Barth’s.

Brookfield Place will have a Fifth Avenue-like streetscape facing the 9/11 Memorial that will be several blocks long.
“We are in active negotiations for every remaining space,” Hogan said. “Come September, we’ll have a whole slew of deals to announce, including more deals in luxury.”
In addition to retail, Brookfield is working on securing top restaurants for the center, Hogan said.
