LANVIN'S MOTHER/DAUGHTER LOVE: In honor of Mother’s Day in France (May 25) and Lanvin’s 125th anniversary, the house commissioned an animated short of its house logo come to life. There’s a story behind the logo, which is an illustration by Paul Iribe of a photograph of Jeanne Lanvin and her daughter Marguerite Marie Blanche at a 1907 costume ball. It was later reimagined by Armand Albert Rateau for the iconic Arpege perfume bottle and remains the house logo today. Marguerite was Lanvin’s only daughter and muse. After her birth in 1897, Lanvin began designing children’s clothes, which led to outfits for young girls and ladies, and eventually Lanvin’s inclusion in the Syndicale de la Haute Couture.
