BOY ZONE: Katy Perry, having kissed a girl and liked it, is puckering up for the men’s shows. Word has it the singer, slated to perform in Milan this week, will turn up at Roberto Cavalli’s show today.

BLOGGER WINDOWS: Holt Renfrew is the latest fashion player to catch social media fever. The Canadian department store chain is preparing a series of blogger-inspired window displays for nine stores, including the Toronto and Vancouver flagships. Due to be unveiled Friday, the windows will salute high-profile names in the fashion blogosphere, notably The Sartorialist’s Scott Schuman, Bryanboy, Tommy Ton (Jak & Jil) and 17-year-old Texan Jane Aldridge (Sea of Shoes). Engineered by Holt Renfrew’s creative director John Gerhardt — and apparently with no direct input from the bloggers themselves — the windows will include captures from the blogs and possibly mannequins dressed as the bloggers. The windows won’t be the first retail hookups for Schuman and Ton. In 2006, Schuman inspired a similar visual merchandising project at Saks Fifth Avenue and he has shot advertising campaigns for DKNY Jeans and Australia’s SABA chain, while Ton recently shot a campaign for Hong Kong’s Lane Crawford. And retail isn’t the only industry courting fashion bloggers. Last Thursday, in a temporary art gallery in Munich, Absolut Vodka unveiled “Visions in an Absolut World,” an exhibition of 121 artworks created by 11 bloggers — including Bryanboy, The Cobrasnake, Facehunter and Les Mads.

TENNIS WHITES: With Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal from Wimbledon, which gets under way today, English tennis fans will be rooting especially enthusiastically for fellow countryman Andy Murray, who now finds himself the top seed in the top half of the draw. The third-ranked men’s player in the world, Murray will be playing in sportif new designs by his apparel sponsor Fred Perry. Inspired by classic styles from the Fifties and Sixties, Murray’s Wimbledon outfits include a collared, white performance shirt, tailored cotton shorts, an ivory cotton cable V-neck sweater, a white cotton tennis bomber jacket and a white cotton equipment bag.

MASTER CLASS:
The future of fashion could be found at the Tommy Hilfiger boutique in SoHo on Wednesday evening, where the designer hosted 30 young beneficiaries of the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund. The students, who hail from colleges and universities around the country, are in New York this summer interning at companies like Polo Ralph Lauren, Macy’s, Perry Ellis and Kenneth Cole.

The event allowed the aspiring designers, merchandisers and marketers to mingle with industry executives and YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund board members, including Robert Skinner, chief executive of Smart Apparel USA; Paul Rosengard, group president at Perry Ellis International; Peter Sachse, ceo of Macys.com; Colleen Kelly, group president at Tommy Hilfiger USA, and Kenneth Wyse, president of licensing at Phillips-Van Heusen. Elisabeth Burack, a former scholarship recipient who now works as a designer at Hilfiger, urged the current crop of students to hone their networking skills. But perhaps the best lesson came from Hilfiger himself: never pass up the opportunity to make a sale. “You are the future, you inspire us — and we hope that you buy our clothes,” he told them. “Are the registers open?”

SHADY CHARACTER: Madonna is said to be demanding cool shades for the European phase of her Sticky & Sweet tour this summer. Word has it the headstrong popster has already raided Louis Vuitton’s entire collection of runway visors to wear during her concerts. The singer is said to be taken by the makeup effect the visors’ colored lenses are meant to create over the eyes.
