KATE’S NEW GIG: Whether it be a result of a hard-partying lifestyle, or just a style staple, Kate Moss never seems to leave her posh digs without sizable sunglasses. Call it a mix of business and pleasure, then, that the model has signed on to be the newest face for Vogue Eyewear. The ads were shot in London’s Syon Park (backdrop of “Gosford Park”) by Mario Testino, and will be unveiled this spring. Within Vogue Eyewear’s upcoming line there will be a selection of styles, titled “Kate’s Favorites,” that will consist of four sunglasses and two optical frames of Moss’ choosing. Moss has previously appeared in Just Cavalli, Yves Saint Laurent and Versace eyewear ads.
GOTHAM VISIT: Pierre Cardin, who is coming to New York later this month to receive Fashion Group International’s Legend Award, will be making the most of his weeklong trip to Manhattan — partying it up to prove that 60 years in fashion clearly haven’t taken a toll on him. Upon arriving, he will host a signing session for the “Pierre Cardin, 60 Years of Innovation” book at The Plaza hotel’s Assouline shop on Oct. 26, with author and longtime Cardin collaborator Jean-Pascal Hesse on hand. Then, there is the Oct. 28 Fashion Group gala at Cipriani 55 Wall Street, for which Cardin is expected to bring a celebrity presenter (Sharon Stone, first rumored to be doing the honors, is said to now be unavailable that night). Cardin will cap his trip with a reprise of his spring fashion show at Milk Studios on Oct. 29. Expect to see his-and-hers Space Age jumpsuits, Sixties-inspired shifts and Cinderella hoop skirts in all colors of the rainbow.
SAKS LOVES ITALY: ICE-Sistema Moda, a national institute dedicated to promoting the Italian textiles industry abroad, in collaboration with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, will present several Made in Italy brands at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York from Oct. 19 to 23. Collections from Albino, Aquilano.Rimondi, Chicca Lualdi BeeQueen and Marco De Vincenzo will be presented throughout the week through dedicated trunk shows and window displays.
MALE BONDING: Topman and GQ hosted a dinner Tuesday to connect the British fast-fashion retailer with New York scene makers, including designers Patrick Ervell, Adam Kimmel, Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos, Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein, along with photographers Douglas Friedman and Collier Schorr. Topman managing director David Shepherd and design director Gordon Richardson flew in from London for the event, which was held in the private dining room of The Lion. Actor and Calvin Klein model Kellan Lutz, fresh off a plane from Spain where he was promoting “Twilight,” said he was readying to go to Louisiana this month to begin shooting the next installment of the series, “Twilight: Breaking Dawn.”
