KARL’S HONOR: Expect Karl Lagerfeld sightings during New York’s fashion week and Fashion’s Night Out in September. The Couture Council of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology will be honoring Lagerfeld with a special Fashion Visionary Award on Sept. 10, and Lagerfeld will attend the organization’s annual benefit luncheon at Avery Fisher Hall that day. “We chose him because he is just an absolutely outstanding designer, one of the greatest of the 20th and 21st century,” said Valerie Steele, director of The Museum at FIT. “He is not just incredibly respected within the fashion world, but also known to everybody and instantly recognizable.” Lagerfeld was picked by an advisory committee that includes Ken Downing, Linda Fargo, Julie Gilhart, Glenda Bailey, Hamish Bowles, Akiko Fukai and Pamela Golbin. The luncheon chairs will include Daphne Guinness, Charlotte Moss, Diana Taylor, Liz Peek and Alexandra Lebenthal.
