CAT’S MEOW: Karl Lagerfeld is surrounded by adorable young creatures these days. “Have you seen my new assistants?” the designer joked to an editor on Sunday at the Chanel headquarters, motioning to two smiling schoolgirls. It was Ines de la Fressange’s 12-year-old daughter Violette and her friend, Suzanne Lindon, daughter of French actor Vincent Lindon, thrilled to be able to spend the day with Lagerfeld as he readied Chanel’s couture collection for the runway on Tuesday. Lagerfeld also pulled out his iPhone to show off pictures of his new kitten, Choupette, which he received as a Christmas gift. Fluffy and white with arresting blue eyes, the cat has revealed an aversion to television, turning her back to the screen, Lagerfeld related. Luckily the pet shares his fondness for books and paper — perhaps a little too much so. “She eats paper,” Lagerfeld noted.
